“Irresponsible” is how the Ontario Chamber of Commerce describes the legislation that would increase the minimum wage to $15 dollars per hour.
The Chamber estimates implementation of Bill 148 will put 185-thousand jobs at risk in the first 2 years.
The Chamber’s Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Karl Baldauf says Ontario’s plan to raise the minimum wage is moving to fast.
Baldauf says California took five yeares to increase its minimum wage.
Ontario proposes to reach the 15-dollar mark by 2019.
According to the Chamber, the legislation will also cost businesses $23-billion dollars in the first two years.
