The latest inductees to the Fort Frances Sports Hall of Fame have been honoured
An athletes, three builders, two team, and two inductees to the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame were recognized.
Among them former CFLer Jeff Treftlin who credits his dad for his success.
Treflin was inducted to the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame last September.
Former NHLer and Fort Frances Muskie hockey player Chris Lindberg was the other regional Hall of Famers to be included in the Fort Frances hall.
Former mayor Glenn Witherspoon, his father Jim and the late Scott Clendenning were placed as builders.
Glenn Witherspoon says it was an honour to be going to the hall with his dad.
Clendenning’s daugher Hailey accepted the honour on behalf of her father, calling him an amazing father, coach and teacher.
Also inducted were members of the Fort Frances Muskies 1980 girls basketball team which became the first Fort team to win a NWOSSA championship.
A high school curling team that won the Manitoba Schoolboys Curling Champion in 1958 and represented the province at the national championship in Charlottetown was also inducted.
David Brockie, a star with the town’s baseball team in the late 1930’s and 1940’s, was also inducted into the hall as a player.
All of the inductees will now have their plaques placed on the wall at the Memorial Sports Centre.
