The federal government is helping young Canadians pursue their passion for teaching in Indigenous communities in northwestern Ontario.
The Liberals are spending $1.6 million to support the ‘Teach for Canada’ initiative.
158 youth in Thunder Bay and Toronto learn how to work in partnership with area First Nations, learn Indigenous languages and learn about Canadian history through an Indigenous lens.
Those involved will also be able to obtain teaching placements at schools in northern First Nations.
