The Salvation Army is pleased with the response to 93.1 The Border’s annual Burst the Bus.
It was held Saturday and collected toys to be distributed to needy children by the agency.
Corp. Officer Arthur Heathcote called it a wonderful day.
“We’ve had a really great turnout. People have been showing up with toys, brand new toys, even showing up with groceries as well and they’ve also been stuffing that kettle with some cash as well so it’s just a wonderful day,” says Heathcote.
This was the sixth year that 93.1 The Border has teamed up with the Salvation Army on the campaign.
Heathcote is appreciative of the community support.
“The nice thing is that it’s coming from people’s hearts and that means a lot. It means a lot to the people that are going to benefit from that generosity this Christmas.”
Heathcote says the toys will be part of Christmas hampers they’ll distribute to families.
