Our annual Burst The Bust drive for the local Salvation Army’s Christmas hampers was another great success again this year!
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated new unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items and cash donations for families here in the Borderland this holiday season.
Our bus was parked outside Rainy Lake Square on November 30th. We also had a fire pit going to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. It really was a winter party atmosphere!
Arthur Heathcote from our local Salvation Army in Fort Frances was very impressed with the giving spirit of people here in the Borderland.
We could not have done this without the help of Camie Gray and Bruyere Transportation. Camie is always such a wonderful part of Burst The Bus each year. She makes sure that our bus is beautifully decorated and she also volunteers her time all day long!
We had fantastic support from citizens like Councillor Doug Judson his partner local lawyer Peter Howie.
Businesses from around the community were very generous as well. Tim Horton’s donated hot chocolate to serve up while Shoppers Drug Mart donated candy canes to hand out as treats. Nathalie and Mika from Betty’s also dropped by with a big box for our bus as well!
James Eastman, Paul Nicholson and Sue Pelepetz from Red Rum First Nations were there with us all day. They helped to load and unload the bus and they also kept the holiday cheer going with their positivity and even a little dancing to the Christmas music we we blasting!
Thank you doesn’t seem like enough but it means so much to all of us when our area comes together for those in need at this time of year.
