Eight new forest fires have been reported over the last couple of days in northwestern Ontario.
Most are in the far north.
One wildfire of note is a 100-hectare blaze burning near Pascall Lake in the Red Lake District.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says that fire started in Manitoba and has crossed the border into Ontario.
A sprinkler system has been set up to protect property values in the area.
Meantime, a ban on burning imposed last week remains in place.
The MNRF also advises that smoke from several large wildfires burning in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the northern United States may start to drift into our region today.
