Some new evidence on the benefits of medical marijuana.
A study by Minnesota’s Department of Health says 42 per cent of Minnesotans taking the drug for pain reported a reduction of thirty per cent or more.
Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says more research is still needed, but the results are clinically significant and promising for both pain treatment and reducing opioid use.
The same study found 63 per cent of patients who were taking opioids said they reduced or eliminated their use within six months of moving to medical marijuana.
The state began making medical marijuana available to people suffering from various health conditions in 2016.
