Fort Frances racer Steve Arpin failed to capitalize on his success Saturday, finishing last in the feature race at the Global Rallycross Championship in Ottawa yesterday.

Arpin lasted just a lap.

Saturday, he won the feature, his second this season, and now leads the drivers standings by four points ahead of Tanner Foust.

 

At the track where it all started for Aprin, Jamie Davis won Saturday's feature in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified class at Emo Speedway.

Brady Caul won the modified feature.

Tylar Wilson was the winner in the Street Stocks.

 

A couple of area runners taking part in the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth on Saturday.

Jordan Botsford of Fort Frances finished the 26 mile course in 4 hours 10 minutes.

Leah Carr of Atikokan finished in 7 hours and 13 minutes.

 

Registration is still being accepted for the Broncos 5K that will take place in International Falls on July 4.

It's a fundraiser for the Falls High School track and field teams.

NHL protested lists have been released in advance of the Vegas Golden Knights' expansion draft taking place Wednesday.

Fort Frances native Ryan Faragher and Thunder Bay's Eric Staal, Patrick Sharp and Tom Pyatt among those available to the Knights.

 

International Falls Post 66 lost 21-11 to Virginia in the consolation final of the Virginia American Legion Land of the Loon Tournament.

Tyler Coffield went 3 for 4 in the game while Will Harala batted  3 RBI's.

Post 66 lost its initial game 18-5 to Nisswa before beating Hermantown 10-9 on Saturday.
