In a surprise move, the president of Confederation College has decided to call it quits at the end of this year.
Even though he has several years left on his contract, Jim Madder says he’s doing so because he’s close to retirement age.
“I mean I love having options, my wife and I did revisit that aspect of it… do we really want to do that, asking ourselves, do I want to extend another one, two years after this and the answer is mmm…no.”
Madder says he’s open to doing contract work for other colleges if he’s asked.
Madder has been president for the past six and a half years.
The College’s Board of Directors says a search for his replacement will begin in the near future.
