There is now talk the province-wide college strike may go on for at least another six weeks.
It’s now into its third week with no new talks planned and both sides in the dispute far apart.
Ontario Public Service Employees Union Rebecca Ward accuses management of attempting to increase fear in faculty and in students.
Ward says they’re also putting out messages that a student has never lost a semester, she calls “very ambivalent statement.”
Ward adds three-quarters of college staff are precarious workers with no union protection and little pay.
Part of the OPSEU’s demands include increased protection for part time faculty.
