It didn’t take long for OPP in Fort Frances to charge their first motorist in 2018 with impaired driving.
A 22-year-old woman was stopped 10 minutes into the new year Monday on the 500 block of Kings Highway after officers observed a Highway Traffic Act infraction.
Along with the impaired driving charge, the unnamed woman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident as well as driving without a license.
She’s in court January 29 on all of those charges.
Two other people are also facing impaired driving related charges in incidents that occurred prior to the new year.
A 29-year-old woman was charged Saturday night after OPP stopped a vehicle on the 300 block of Front Street in Fort Frances.
And a 66 year-old man from Watten township was charged on Boxing Day after OPP were notified by Canada Border Services Agency officers at the Fort Frances border that he’s failed a roadside test conducted there.
Both will be in court in February.
