Public feedback is now being taken on proposed changes to the provincial bait fish management plan.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking to create new bait fish management zones and new rules around moving bait fish between those areas.
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters support the idea, but not a lot of the key details.
Fisheries Biologist Tom Brooke says there are too many restrictions with some of the policies dealing with invasive species.
Brooke believes the supply and demand existing now will be impacted because harvesters and dealers will have to change where they are getting their bait from.
He says the notes is to ban the use of live bait in all provincial parks.
The use is currently prohibited at Quetico Provincial Park.
The MNR says the ultimate goal of its proposal is stopping the transfer of invasive species.
Online feedback will be accepted until June 27.
