The Alzheimer Society Kenora-Rainy River District wants your iPods!
The society used them in their Music Project which helps people with dementia.
Rylee Rieu, the Client Services Coordinator, says they have partnered with Toronto’s Alzheimer Society and have access to 30,000 songs to program for the people they help.
“We actually sit down with a family member, a friend, or if they are in long-term care, a personal nurse to figure out what kind of music they listen to.”
An iPod is then provided to them at no cost filled with their favourite tunes.”
The program is been known to help jog the memories of those when listening.
If you have an iPod you are no longer using, you can drop it off at Sight and Sound in Fort Frances.
