Ontario’s political leaders gathered for one final debate before the June 7th election.
Much of the focus was on the leaders’ attributes to govern.
In an exchange with NDP leader Andrea Horwath, PC leader Doug Ford says he’s the only one voters can really trust.
“We don’t make $7-billion mistakes. We don’t cook the books to $12-million,” stated Ford.
“We did admit a mistake and we fixed it right away. It’s nowhere near Mr. Ford is talking about,” Horwath replied.
Liberal leader Kathleen Wynne addressed her party’s poor showing in the polls by telling the viewing audience she was sorry, but not sorry.
“I’m really genuinely sorry that more people don’t like me. But I am not sorry about all the things we are doing in Ontario to make life better,” Wynne said.
Ford was also pressed for his platform by both his opponents during the debate.
“Why don’t you think it’s important to be honest and show people a platform?,” asked Horwath who noted people are already voting without knowing what the PCs are offering or the $6-billion in cuts Ford mentioned he would find upon becoming premier.
“Mr. Ford, you know, I think if you had a plan you would share it with the people of Ontario. I think you would tell people exactly what you are going to do and what you are going to cut,” said Wynne.
“It’s been pretty clear,” replied Ford. “Every single day I’ve been putting out announcements. And our announcements put a dollar figure beside it.”
